“We Are LA” is Back by Popular Demand

The Los Angeles City Commission on Human Relations (soon to be PREVENT HATE bloggers as we continue to develop public-private partnerships on behalf of the common good) has released the following press release:

 

Back by popular demand – City HRC’s “We Are LA!” – a series focusing on Homelessness, LGBT Families, Middle East Issues, and African American/Latino Relations, to Air On Channel 35 in June. 

Los Angeles

The series begins airing on June 2nd with the LGBT episode “Married, Gay with Children” which explores the impact of Proposition 8 on the children of gay and lesbian parents.

As host of the four new episodes, Ray Gonzales had this to say about the experience, “The City of Angels is in good hands due to the wonderful services provided by City HRC.”

“In a city as diverse and multi-layered as Los Angeles, conflicts and challenges need to be addressed with a neutral human relations lens,” said Commission President Keith Rohman. “The breadth of the issues we tackle touches all the residents of this city.”

The focus of the shows varies in subject matter but allows viewers to connect with City HRC’s mandate which is “to guarantee all people the opportunity for full and equal participation in the affairs of city government while promoting the general welfare and safety of all residents in the Los Angeles community.”

The shows will air on the following dates:

“Married… Gay… with Children”

Tuesday, 6/2 at 8:30 a.m. & Thursday, 6/4 at 7:00 p.m.

“The Impact of Middle East Tension on Relations in Los Angeles”

Tuesday, 6/9 at 8:30 a.m. & Thursday, 6/11 at 7:00 p.m.

“The Homeless throughout Los Angeles”

Tuesday, 6/16 at 8:30 a.m. & Thursday, 6/18 at 7:00 p.m.

“Black/Brown Relations in Los Angeles”

Tuesday, 6/23 at 8:30 a.m. & Thursday, 6/25 at 7:00 p.m.

LA Cityview can be seen on every cable system within the City of Los Angeles, on Channel 35. In addition, all programs can be viewed live as they are broadcast, anywhere in the world, at http://www.LACityview.org

– The City Human Relations Commission (City HRC) finished production on its second batch of shows produced by LA Cityview Channel 35 to feature human relations issues in Los Angeles. The four new shows concentrate on City HRC’s work on LGBT issues, the Middle East, Homelessness and African American/Latino Relations.
